- Glory is Neviril and Aaeru's Simoun leaving the Arcus Prima (and the world) in ep 24
- Silence is Rodoreamon after Mamiina's funeral ceremony
- Pink is Aaeru and Neviril's kiss from ep 2, when Neviril comes back from the Source (the background of that kiss is actually red and not pink as I remembered it. So I made it pink)

In which I start the year by going back to my perennial love: Simoun.
My challenge for this week was: "Never again" (first words).
This is a return to episodes 15 and 16, focused on Dominuura and Rimone. Right after Dominuura breaks down from seeing the past/future in the Simoun's engine, and following her recovery up until they complete the Emerald Ri Maajon, sending them back in time. Dominuura who had to accept that what she never wanted to happen again... was always going to happen and she had to make it happen. The Pair that was fated to meet, and never again would be seen by their friends.
These episodes are full of bittersweet last meetings which could have fitted the challenge too, but I focused on the Pair's fate.

What I did this summer

But I had forgotten A LOT about the series and most notably, the whole "should we let the planet or the humans die" debate rings a lot different than it did 10 or so years ago when I read it for the first time. Especially in the current climate (ha!). I did never have much hope in humanity but it has definitely been lost in the last few years.
On another note, I realized around the fourth reread of the last volumes that Seishirou anticipated that Subaru will lose his need to live after he died, and that's why he planned the eye thing. Even in death, he's still controlling him. (I love/hate this ship).
The fic itself is Kamui/Subaru and can be found here).
No warnings besides being written for a grief/mourning exchange. Don't expect fluff.
(Also I did forget while writing that Kamui actually felt Subaru's kekkai and could recognize and localize him during that last fight)
I actually didn't reread the whole of ASOIAF for this: I knew what I wanted to write about (ie, Sansa/Margaery) and just reread the relevant chapters of the third book.
I still had to check the wiki because some of the names changed in the French translation for a reason I can't quite fathom.
I planned to write only one drabble, and then it grew and grew.
The fic: 500 words of Sansa/Margaery missing scenes.
YuGiOh: a surprise cat
So, I was not interested in the Cat Exchange (If I Fits I Fics) at first. Then I saw a pinch hit post and one of the offer generated an instant plotbunny.
I deliberated with myself for about one hour, mailed the mod, and then learned that someone else had taken the PH.
I thought "oh well I'd do it as a treat".
Then various shenanigans happened (that will be the last part of this post) and I was glad I didn't got the PH because I had only written the very intro and this was going to be a bigger thing than anticipated.
I pushed myself after receiving positive comments on that intro on a Discord comm. I pushed and pushed. And posted right before the deadline.
It's now my most popular fic of the year which I would have never expected! XD

And there's surprisingly little 1x2x3x4x5 fics on Ao3 (and most of them are smut-focused which is not the part I'm after) so I decided to do my part.
It got loved, which I'm very thankful and happy about.

On the less sunny side: life update
I've never experienced this before, and as a normally very emotional person, being suddenly cut-off from feeling anything is very weird, very unsettling, very dehumanizing. I couldn't care about anything.
I carried things still. Reading fics helped, because with the most extreme of those (whump ahoy) I could feel the remnants of feelings.
I had actually read a Yami no Matsuei fic describing this a short while before, and this helped tremendously (would have not recognized it otherwise).
Writing was weird but as long as I didn't get into emotions that much, doable.
I'm through it. Yay me, I guess.
X/1999: one fic and a lot of feelings
This was my assignment for the Grief/Mourning exchange (my first one). I reread the whole series to write it and discovered myself a ship on the way, so this was delightful.But I had forgotten A LOT about the series and most notably, the whole "should we let the planet or the humans die" debate rings a lot different than it did 10 or so years ago when I read it for the first time. Especially in the current climate (ha!). I did never have much hope in humanity but it has definitely been lost in the last few years.
On another note, I realized around the fourth reread of the last volumes that Seishirou anticipated that Subaru will lose his need to live after he died, and that's why he planned the eye thing. Even in death, he's still controlling him. (I love/hate this ship).

No warnings besides being written for a grief/mourning exchange. Don't expect fluff.
(Also I did forget while writing that Kamui actually felt Subaru's kekkai and could recognize and localize him during that last fight)
ASOIAF: a sequence of five drabbles
Written for the Multifandom Drabble Exchange.I actually didn't reread the whole of ASOIAF for this: I knew what I wanted to write about (ie, Sansa/Margaery) and just reread the relevant chapters of the third book.
I still had to check the wiki because some of the names changed in the French translation for a reason I can't quite fathom.
I planned to write only one drabble, and then it grew and grew.
The fic: 500 words of Sansa/Margaery missing scenes.
YuGiOh: a surprise cat
So, I was not interested in the Cat Exchange (If I Fits I Fics) at first. Then I saw a pinch hit post and one of the offer generated an instant plotbunny.I deliberated with myself for about one hour, mailed the mod, and then learned that someone else had taken the PH.
I thought "oh well I'd do it as a treat".
Then various shenanigans happened (that will be the last part of this post) and I was glad I didn't got the PH because I had only written the very intro and this was going to be a bigger thing than anticipated.
I pushed myself after receiving positive comments on that intro on a Discord comm. I pushed and pushed. And posted right before the deadline.
It's now my most popular fic of the year which I would have never expected! XD

I had the second crunch time of the year - three weeks this time. On top of existing depressive mood, general stress, 70h work week, during the second weekend we had an emergency situation. Not going into details, but the point is: I could have died right on the spot, and bring several people there with me. Exchanges, oh my!
Jul. 24th, 2021 01:26 pmSo thanks to some exploration of prompt communities on DW, I eventually stumbled upon Exchanges After Dark, a 18+ Discord server dedicated to fanwork exchanges.
And what a discovery it was.
That's also why I disappeared for a bit, so many things to discover, new lingo to learn, etc. I'm involved in 4 exchanges at the moment, and the first one will end this weekend, so I'll share it here and speak more about it because I have feelings.
It's been so much fun though! I rediscovered old fandoms, and I write again. I have ideas pouring out and I have to take notes at work otherwise the plotbunnies just jump all over my brain and don't let me focus. It's an exhilarating experience, one I didn't have in a long, long time.
Very much full of gratefulness at the moment.
(I also did a few icons for Horizon Zero Dawn, duringfan_flashworks latest amnesty period which you can find here that I totally forgot to post about after the mandatory waiting period was over, oops)

This rewatch is unexpectedly emotional. I love these idiots so much.
Some additional explanations:
- Easy: this is from Rimone's flashback episode, when she thinks this is too easy, right before committing the fatal error that will kill her partner.
- Talk: same episode but back into present, silent communication with aaeru that enables her to reach her decision and complete the Ri Maajon.
- Time: Onashia transcends time and is basically one with it.
- Angel: mostly on imagery, as Simoun doesn't have angels. But Onashia is what comes closest.
- Number: this Ri Maajon that requires 6 Simoun to be completed has been used twice (Ep 9 and 10) to signify the unexpected return of a missing part of the Chor, here to save the day.
Still in the aftermath of the two 70h work weeks, so not much has been done. Plus I was afk most of this weekend. I still wanted to update so here's a thing I did in between Simoun episodes rewatch and making icons. ^^

Can't find an appropriate prompt for it on the 100fandoms table so guess I'll write something new for Simoun!
Side note: I seem to be attracted to stories with a "ragtag army" theme? Simoun has priestesses-soldiers. Gundam Wing (which, on non-productive news, I've been binging on fics) has boy soldiers. Weiss Kreuz has the secret military operation vibe, as do BeeTrain's Girls with Guns trilogy. Might be the innocence/war mix, as well.
